Photoessay #2013 - Maier 'book'

I went through lulu.com and made a 'book' out of my Maier paper.  They call it publication but I'm sure I can reserve that right.  You don't have a lot of options and the inside is just an image of my research paper.

But it looks nice, especially using 'the picture'.  I'm now wondering when this photograph was taken.  I have a small version of it myself.  It was put together for the B'nai B'rith 'Lodge of Sorrow' in 1906, five years after his death.

My next trip to New Haven is in the middle of October.  I'm already scheduling it up.  We have the Cousin Extravaganza in New York City on Monday.  Sunday afternoon,we have the downtown New Haven restaurant tour  I've bought four tickets already.  If my other cousin and his wife want to come, I'll buy two more tickets.  These tours are led by Colin Caplan, the architectural historian who knows all about Charles Weil, another of my great great grandfathers.  If I get enough critical mass going and buy enough tickets, maybe he could customize the tour.  Or maybe he'll give us some time later in the week.  He's the one who knows.

Marvin at the Jewish Historical Society says he's available T or Th so we gotta make a trip there.  I think back on those German language newspaper articles in the scrapbooks that I ignored.  Maybe with my UW class, I might have some translation resources.

I also wrote the law firm that's now in the building comprising of Maier Zunder's house and the townhouse next door..  They wrote back and said they would be glad to show us around.  Also they have a picture of the building before it was combined.  He also says the building is for sale.  Walk AWAY from that, don't even think of that, Sandy.  Hmmmm....

These books are cheap to make. $5/book.  I'm going to make up 10 or so and give them out in return for favors.  No, I'm giving them out out of generosity.  What's also great about this service is that I can easily revise it.

Haven't heard from "Connecticut History".  Looks like Fairfield University is only about 30 miles from New Haven.  I could go meet with the editor if it looked good.

I know it's a little odd for this lady from Washington State to do all this New Haven stuff.  But it makes perfect sense to me....You want a copy?
