Photoessay #2096 - The universe seeking equilibrium

I believe there is a principle in science where a system will always attempt to seek equlibrium.  I remember valences in electrons (or something) and movements of matter and energy so that a system can achieve equilibrium.

So it is in life.  Especially regarding rodents and garages.

I witnessed this several times in years past.  As soon as you had decided that you were willing to have a rodent (hamster, gerbil, rat, guinea pig, etc) as a pet, you merely send this intention to the universe and, within 24 hours, somebody will deliver a rodent plus cage, food, etc to you.  They may drive away without giving you their name (for obvious reasons)

If you are rodent-ready, a rodent will come to you.

Just having the intention will make it happen.

I'm watching this same principle in regards to items being stored in our garage.  Our family includes four young adult twenty-something children (apologies to my son who just turned thirty).  Parents, you know what this means, many items stored in your garage.  Often accompanied by those items' owners upbraiding you for having such a messy garage (an example of a closed system with feedback).

So my daughter is leaving for Alabama to go to graduate school very soon so she had this great idea.  She knew we wanted to downsize and she didn't have money for textbooks.  So she would organize a garage sale.  She would make money and our garage would be freed up.  She even suggested, though we knew this likely could never happen, that we could actually put a car in the garage.

The garage sale is this weekend.  Please come and purchase some of our old stuff.

However I neglected to recognize the principle of equilibrium.  She's likely to sell some of it, right?  However she neglected to mention that she has a bunch of things from another storage unit which will need to go there for the duration.  And her friend M, who's going with her, could she just store some things there too?  Just a few dressers and a mattress.

So the universe just needs to get itself back into equilibrium.  Just the potential of space in a garage in advance of the actual phenomena attracts items to fill it.

What happened to our garage space?

That ism't our messy garage but shares quite a few common components.
