As always, enjoying my UW certificate courses. Though, it's beginning to dawn on me that I'm not going to finish the devotional exercise paper by mid-June. Doesn't matter really, nothing to stop me from writing it, is there?
Interesting mixed message about the academic rigor in my current class. The goal of this class is to prepare a paper with the likely intended audience being your family, maybe your family in the future. But, because it's affiliated with the history department, the history teacher insists that it has to be cited appropriately. And we meaning every little thing footnoted exactly, that would be in Chicago style just so.
Myself, I might be a bit more ambitious on the fate of my two papers so I don't mind doing it. More likely, I will have more conflict with the genealogical side because I don't have all the documents about my person's life. Do I have a marriage certificate for Maier Zunder and Regina Zunder (his widowed sister in law) in 1852? No. How do you know they married? Um, several accounts (including his own) of Maier's life, her obituary, his obituary, the picture on my cousin's wall, family stories, etc Will I search and search until I find the documentation? No.
But it's not hard for me because I have most of the footnotes done anyway and I don't mind fooling with the format. I say that now when I've redone less than 10 and I have 100. Perseverance is not always my strength.
Our car's finally fixed, it's been a quiet week here without a car. Actually I haven't missed it much
