Photoessay !969 - Youth Symphony

We had a lovely afternoon and evening with the Thuleans, some of my all-time favorite people. We had bought an item donated by them at the Changes auction. Tickets to the Seattle Youth Symphony at Benaroya Hall followed by dinner in their condo on First Hill.

How long has it been since I've been to a symphony concert?? Long long time. Don is a retired music conductor and he knows and loves music. This orchestra is the top tier of a very impressive youth program.

We've never been in Benaroya Hall. Embarrassed to say that Don and Meryl have seats in one of the boxes like you can see across the way. It'a at an angle so I had to adjust the chair. But fun, sitting in the cool seats and enjoying the music. I liked all the music; the one that drew me in was the one I might least expect William Walton's Violin Concert, a syncopated varied rhythm harmony piece. As mentioned in the program, it is romantic, maybe love regained. I found myself rather lost in it and when it ended, I thought, that's it? It's over? Music does not usually affect me like that and felt it rather satisfying.

Then an nice dinner and chat at their home. Fun! First shot is taken in the lobby of Benaroya of Dennis, Meryl and Don. The second taken from our seats looking across the hall.
