Photoessay #1475 - Ilana's birthday

When you have a big family, you can find yourself picking up a lot of restaurant tabs for big groups. Last night we celebrated Ilana's 25th birthday. She hasn't been in town much for awhile (attending University of Michigan) and she wanted to go to the dumpling house for her birthday. A tiny storefront place where we ALWAYS go. Everybody likes the place. They don't handle big groups too well. In this picture, we are taking up about half the place. And he doesn't take reservations, I tried that last time.

Ilana was insistent that she wanted to go to the noodle place. And by a stroke of luck, people wree just leaving so the owner could put together this table. He jokes with us, particularly with Danny who he views as a restaurant colleague.

The owner and I always put together the order, you can feed a lot of people there. A good thing as we had a party of 10. Including all four of our grown kids, three significant others and our granddaughter Melina. Not such a great picture of me but my readers can see how everybody else is enjoying themselves.

The pickled vegetables are on the table. All their dumplings and noodles are freshly hand made. Bring on the wonton soup, chow mein noodles, dumpings, potstickers and green onion pancakes. Bring lots, this crowd is ready.

I took a group picture outside afterward. Electric fuse box included for atmosphere and decoration.
