Photoessay #1463 - Skyline

A shot from a favorite viewpoint in West Seattle, a week or so ago when we had fish and chips at Spuds at Alki Beach. Lovely view across Elliott Bay.

Charlie was eager to try a new panorama feature. So he took a series of pictures that would magically fit together. I took a series too. But I was not even half careful enough and the shots didn't line up at all.

Charlie worked carefully and, after a lot of fussing around presented me with his beautiful panorama (second shot) of the Seattle skyline. I looked at it for a few minutes...just one problem Charl, the Space Needle is in the wrong place. It's supposed to be left of downtown, your picture has it to the right.

We looked at it together and realized that the panorama software had lined it up as best it could but made some wrong guesses.

It constructed an alternate city, an alternate UNIVERISE! Some other city with the Space Needle south of the downtown. Twilight Zone! You are now entering the Twilight Zone! do do do do do do do do

So watch out for these programs, they can do way more than you expect.
