Government Incompetence - it's beginning to show

(no disrespect to handbag designers)

The Trump Administration; the incompetence is really beginning to show.  "Drain the swamp" meant force government workers out and replace them with his friends (whoever gave him money) who do not know how to do the job and not particularly interested.

Let me start with a local example.

The North City Post Office.  And older building, maybe it used to be a grocery store.  Been there since we moved here in 1979.  Had a small retail post office and also was a processing center for mail and headquarters for the mail carriers.  Nothing fancy but it worked.

So they've sold the site within the last year to some private developer because now they are building a tall condo building.  Kickbacks?  The mail carriers got moved to an abandoned store but the parking lot for the vehicles is several blocks away and they have to walk those blocks and cross some busy streets to get there and back.  How is that efficient?

The retail part?  It's been moved to a strip mall.  You go in there, scrawled hand-written signs, it's covered with unfinished plywood and black plastic.  One surly worker was there and they were out of postcard stamps.  What?  I asked if they were going to fix it up or move back to their original site?  No, we don't know, was the reply.

Where's the planning and management here?  They're just going to do the minimum and ... and ... what?  The current one has a real third world feel to it.  Is that where we're going?  Guess we don't need a decent post office.  Sold it to developers.

Next item:  In the morning paper (Seattle Times) and article that instead of an average of 10 months, citizenship now takes over 2 years to process.  Trump himself tweets "Go back to your Country and if you want, apply for citizenship like millions of others are doing!"  No matter that you have to be a legal resident and have a green card for a number of years before you can apply for citizenship.  Incompetent and makes no sense.  How can that be acceptable?

Then there's the handbag designer Mai-A-Lago member who's now an ambassador.

There are consequences, maybe slow to develop but they are coming for us.
