Late afternoon view

This view was from the home of my interviewees.  Late afternoon, pretty nice!  They were delightful and funny.  Best story to come out of it.  Joe, talking about his bar mitvah in 1942.  He said he learned his Hebrew from Mr. G who taught him that you must never touch the torah, you may used the pointer or yad to keep your place.  The 12 year old bar mitzvah boy listened carefully.  Then, when he was rehearsing with the senior rabbi and had the torah open, Rabbi L said "Your torah portion starts right here."  And he marked the place on the torah with a pencil.  The bar mitzvah boy nearly fainted from shock.
