Photoessay #2412 - Poor dog Maddie!
You know how it is when you have a day with nothing scheduled? I know for people with young children, you think that day will NEVER EVER come. But eventually it does.
Of course, something appears to fill up the day.
First of all, let me say that Maddie, the yorkie poo dog owned by my son and daughter-in-law (how's that, yup, they're married) is fine.
Danny was walking her on the street past some apartments like he always does when this boston terrier rushed out and attacked Maddie. Danny dove into the fray and pried the dog off of Maddie. She did have a puncture wound. The owner of the dog tried to make a case that the sidewalk was her dog's ysrd. The other dog was unleashed.
The medics came to check out Danny (he did have some wounds on his hand).
Then he called me. They only have one car; Jessica drives to work; Danny can walk to work. I met him at the police precinct office right across the street and Danny reported the incident. The Animal Control officer came. We returned to the scene of the crime. He looked at Maddie and Danny. He questioned some people coming in and out of the apartment house.
I thought I was part of a tv cop show.
One woman walking into the building said "That dog? That dog bites! That dog bit a kid last week." An animal control officer hears this and he's going after that dog owner. Right now. The woman told the officer the woman's name and apartment number.
We ended up taking Maddie to my vet rather than Danny's because they wouldn't take her. She had her wound cleaned out and some stitches and a drain for a few days. Maddie does not feel very good.
The animal control officer found the dog's owner. She has to pay a large fine and her dog is quarrantined. Maddie is still hurting but I'm glad that we got her care.
It's always something.
