Photoessay #2410 - The special cake knife

In my family, we have a tradition of using a special cake knife at weddings.  I think I wrote about it before.  This knife with the mother of pearl handle was used at my wedding, my siblings' weddings, my mother's wedding, my cousin's wedding (I think), my cousin's daughter's wedding, my mother's wedding, my aunt's wedding, my grandmother's wedding.

And my great grandmother Delia's wedding in 1894.  I think that probably Maier Zunder, Delia's father, purchased it though I'm not sure about that.

So now, my son used it at his wedding.  Doesn't it look so pretty on the cake table?  And the cake is so beautiful.  And tasty too even though I, as a family member, only  got a taste.  Wish I had had some more.
