Photoessay #2896 - Macau Practicum
Dennis and I traveled to Ellensburg to attend a meeting for families of the 8 students that will be doing their teaching practicum in a school in Macao, part of China but not part of China, like Hong Kong only Portuguese.
Anyway, these education professors have established a relationship with a school in Macao serving age 3 - secondary. The professors have been there many times and had a group of students doing their student teaching. You do your student teaching your last quarter. The quarter before your student teaching you do your practicum which is usually six weeks in a classroom.
But these 8 students will do their practicum in Macao. Nine weeks full time. Very highly supported. English speaking school. School pays half air fare, gives them an apartment plus a stipend for food. These faculty leaders have thought of everything, the paperwork, the stuff about the phone, they showed the neighborhood, services. We skyped with the director of the school, she showed a short cell phone video of the school and the apartments. The students will prepare a few days in the fall, then fly to Hong Kong. The faculty member will be there to meet them and get them to Macao and all set up, stay a week or so. Then the two faculty members will come over around week 5 and stay the rest of the time.
Could this be better supported? It's fabulous! What a great opportunity.
We also brought a bunch of furniture home from Naomi's apt.
I took a series of pictures westbound. Here's one near where I started; approaching the Cascades from the east. Pretty!
