Yesterday I took quite a number of lovely pictures of driving westward over I90 towards Seattle. The auto-mode shots taken through a dirty car window. But some of them come out!
I saw the familiar sight eastbound of the clouds getting stuck in the mountains. The rain shadow is so clear, those clouds not making it over the peaks giving eastern Washington its arid climate. Doesn't show dramatically westbound.
In Ellensburg yesterday afternoon, it was sunny and windy. Here, as we cross the mountains, there's still some snow around. Getting into that familiar Puget Sound gray aspect.
Right now, as I look out the sindow at 10:30 am on June 3rd, the skies are gray and the light muted.
The Cascades fool you. They're not that high 3K but seem so much highers. Kit Carson in the Sierras is over 7K high and nearby Carson Pass over 8K. But these mountains are plenty rugged and need to be respected.
Today is my father's birthday; he would have been 87 today. Given his long period of ill health, I wonder, would I have wanted him to have another 7 years? No escaping that old age. I can feel it pressing. So I've got to finish my Scrapbook paper while I still can.'
I90 yesterday early evening; we've passed Snoqualmie Pass.
