Wednesday - two archives

Today, I was a lot more focused during my time at the Jewish Historical Society, mainly scanning newspaper accounts of Board of Education happenings, accounts of Delia's wedding, and the many obits. I have a lot of material.

We went and had lunch near Yale and then went to the New Haven Museum. The archivist was very helpful. We found the Proceedings; I had a date of Dec 1877 in mind as there was a controversy about taking the prayer out of the schools.

We found the right books but these meetings are all done in script handwriting and it's SO HARD to read. I did read through Dec 1877 but it's very hard to pick out. The archivist said they've never been transcribed. I can see you would have to be very dedicated.

Mary Ann and I continue to mess around with our pictures and, after several tries, managed to scan a picture of Nanny as a baby on her scanner.

Tomorrow, morning at the Jewish Historical Society, lunch with Ruthie and the neighborhood tour and then to the cemetery. I'll take Denny and Mary Ann out to dinner and it will be a wrap!
