Photoessay #1224 - Ilana wraps it up in New York

Ilana's finished her week in New York City as part of the Alternative Spring Break program for Information School at University of Michigan. She spent the week with the New York Public Library in the Bronx. She talked to paraprofessionals about what kinds of databases they would like to learn about. She had prepared info about business databases then found out that they weren't available in the Bronx part. She prepared a talk about how to use them and gave the talk later today. There had been so many signups, they switched the venue to their main auditorium. She said it went well, her supervising librarian was pleased, said she would like to do it again because of the strong interest. Ilana gave the librarian her Power Point slides and the supervisor offered to be a job reference for Ilana. All good!

One night, some alums had some front row seats for the New York Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall which he gave to the visiting students. Front Row! Ilana went and enjoyed it. The picture was taken by her roommate Adriana of the view from the front row. She did write in the previous shot that her camera went all grainy.

I think I mentioned that earlier in the week Ilana accompanied Flash to the Lower East Side Film Festival.

Flash clued her in about this huge book handling facility under Bryant Park and Ilana had requested at her orientation to see it. Mentioned that Flash was her cousin. They were supposed to have the tour this afternoon, don't know if they got to see it.p
