Photoessay #1187 - Bronx Library

Picture shows the Bronx Library Center, part of the New York Public Library. As part of the continuing-to-amaze-me program for the University of Michigan Information School, over 100 Information School students get to participate in the Alternative School Break program. The school pays the transportation and hostel costs and sends groups of students to institutions in New York, Washington DC, Chicago and Detroit to work for a week in prominent institutions. The students work without pay but get invaluable experience.

Ilana got her first choice (she wonders why this continues to happen) and will be teaching some database classes to paraprofessionals in the Bronx Library Center at the New York Public Library. She will be the only one going to this particular site. Maybe she can get my cousin Flash Rosenberg (who is an artist-in-residence at the NYPL) to get involved.

Sounds good! So many great things about this school. She continues her new job as supervisor (in charge) of the Kresge Business Library on Monday nights and Saturday days. They are also training her on the reference desk.

All's going good there.

We lost our power for four hours yesterday, maybe I mentioned that? Tonight's my writing class and MY week to bring 'snack'. Snack is very important in a long class with adult women. I'm bringing pineapple upside down cake and cut up oranges.....
