Photoessay #1021 - Ilana and Matt made it!

Ilana's made it to Ann Arbor. Everything as planned with stops in Butte Montana, Devil Tower Wyoming (2 nights), Sioux Falls South Dakota, Chicago with Uncle Charlie and then....the promised land Ann Arbor, Michigan!

The world of huge out of state tuition :( Ilana will be attending the masters program in the Information School at University of Michigan. I'm convinced that state universities are favoring out of state students because of the huge tuition. Washington probably took the Michigan kids and Michigan took the Washington kids so everybody could pay!

As expected, she stuffed my mom's old Buick to an inch of its life. Including the all important golden Napoleon lamp from my mom's living room.

We once had out cartop carrier stolen (in Spokane) in a hotel parking lot. So crummy, we lost our sports equipment, Susanna was playing middle school softball, money was tight and we had to buy her a new glove. Even the first day of this trip, they saw evidence of tampering on the cartop carrier. Every day when they came back to the car, Ilana said it was a delightful surprise that the carrier was still there.

They stopped at Mt Rushmore, can you tell? And Matt is checking the carrier.

Myself, who has a fear of new shoes, went to the fancy shoe store and bought *3* pairs. My doc said I would never be able to do the UW football gig in birkenstocks. So I have new fancy clogs.

Walking Company at the mall. Very dangerous place, I really liked their shoes.
Ilana will be living with two other Information School students (they met at the orientation) They have the upper two floors of a house about 2 miles from campus. One of the other roommates is bringing furniture at the end of the week.
Classes start Sept 1 but she wanted to get there early, hoping to get a job, etc
