Another picture 'straight out of the camera' taken yesterday evening on our trip to Alki. You would think after all this time, I would have the geography right but the Puget Sound region is so darn confusing. I'm going on the limb and say that the landmass across the Sound is Bainbridge Island. For the map folks, this is taken from Alki Beach which is on the northwest side of West Seattle. I think if you looked a bit to the right, you would see land closer which would be Magnolia.
Look at yesterday's picture where you can see the ferries going back and forth through Matt's head (ok, not really). Those ferries are going to the main ferry terminal in downtown Seattle on Elliot Bay. You pass Magnolia on your way into Elliot Bay; which is what you see on the right of the shot. I turned left and looked across the water for the second shot. Not that much time later either as it was pretty darn chilly out there.
But the color and light vary greatly with the weak sunlight being reflected on Puget Sound. The same reflected in the outlines of the rain puddles. A color shot but it the only colors shown are shades of gray. So many horizontal elements, the bank of clouds against the leaden sky. The land across the Sound, even the reflections on the water show as a horizon, wonder why.
So many throw-away beauty spots around here. But you've got to like dark, cold and wet. So much sky, water, mountains, hills, evergreens, blooming, clouds, sunsets. Every region has its beauty but scenic just taken for granted around me.
I feel a bit badly that I'm not preparing a Pesach seder this evening but the center did not hold on it this year. And maybe not next year as the main players will all be likely not here. Naomi in Pullman (she found a seder to go to this evening, I figured she could find something in that town, Naomi can find a way, watch out for her). Ilana will likely be in Michigan, Janine probably in BC. As the afternoon deepens, I realize that my whole family will miss the seder (and often they list it as one of their favorite holidays) because we could not get it together. But it's such a group effort. I depended on my young daughters to spearhead the event. But that time may have passed. Dayenu.
But I will go to a team meeting this evening. As Mimi said yesterday afternoon, teams are magic.
