I suppose no visit to Seattle is complete without a trip for Spud Fish and Chips at Alki Beach. So, despite the rotten weather (I toooooollld you, said Ilana, we should've gone YESTERDAY!), we started off after my CPSN meeting. And, by the time we hit the beach, the weather was much improved, not raining, definitely brighter.
Picture shows Natsuko, Ilana, Matt, Dennis, standing on the bulwark at high tide. Actually we could see *3* ferries crossing the Sound, though one is obscured.
My mother loved to go to Alki for fish and chips, she insisted on going every time she visited. Anything to do with a beach was on her agenda. We would pick up Jim and Lanaya and then just Jim in later years. One of his favorite places.
We also have pictures of Natsukos parents on this beach in 2002.
On Jim and Lanaya's old stomping grounds, they grew up in West Seattle, I think Jim may have worked here during high school. I can still feel their presence in the entire neigborhood.
Personally, I think the quality of the fish and chips has taken a dive in recent years....
Alki Beach...a Seattle landmark
