Natsuko has come from Japan to study with the Snow Leopard Institute for a few weeks. Just in advance of our trip to visit her family! Crazy how it happened but it's all good.
I picked up Natuko at the airport in the morning and she was determined to stay awake until the evening. We directly started scoping out the bus route. Drove to the offices, retraced the route of the 44 to the university and then the 372 to Lake Forest Park. Not surprisingly, she was totally confused...hmmmm...don't blame her. She had just hit town a very few hours earlier after a trans-Pacific flight, didn't know a thing about Seattle other than Ichiro and I'm trying to sell her a tricky bus route. So then we looked at the whole map and it started making sense. Still mid-afternoon and I have time (remember, unemployed?). So I suggested we go down to the Lake Forest Park mall and, together, ride the bus there and back. Certainly some sticky points remained in how the whole thing would hang together.
The photo shows Natsuko at our destination, a few blocks walk from the Trust offices. "We made it!" she said triumphantly. Looking closer, I think her eyes are closed....
So this morning, she got on the bus and I haven't heard from her so I assume she got there. We went over some of the tougher parts ("The stop PAST the HUB at the university, down the steps by the greenhouses and catch the next bus across from the Medical Center, Sunnyside is the stop PAST Latona. If all else fails, ASK THE BUSDRIVER!")
Planning a ferry trip to Whidbey Island this weekend....
