Photoessay #828 - Everything into the Prius

Here's proof, it can be done. Dennis was concerned about taking the van over the mountains, thought it had just been serviced. Could they take the Prius when they took Naomi to college at Washington State in Pullman? Not an easy drive, over the mighty Cascades and through some pretty unpopulated territory into the Palouse.

So they got everything into the Prius, picture taken at their dawn departure. They did get to Pullman by noon, plenty of time for Naomi to get everything unloaded and take her placement tests. They started out with one of the biggest items, the mini-fridge. We originally purchased that mini-fridge when Susanna moved in at U Oregon. The deal was brokered by Dani B, another player so we don't know where that fridge lived before then. Susanna had it one year; Ian (across the street) took it to Central Washington U for a year, Ilana had it at University of Washington for two years and now Naomi has it at Washington State University. I think we got our $60 worth!

Good thing because the van started doing bad transmission things last week. Glad that Dennis didn't take a fully loaded wounded van over the Cascades. Unclear what it will cost to fix but it's likely too much. We have it back now. Turns out that, at least for now, it's not dead but merely dying so you can still drive it. Fine going to the dog park this afternoon.

Startled to see the front page above the fold headline in today's Seattle Times "Swine flu rages at WSU" What? Apparently quite a few ill in Pullman. You can see yow it could be spread in close living quarters such as dorms. Talk to Naomi, all seems well. A few professors cancelled classes for one day.
