Photoessay #826 - Fantasy?

We currently reside in Caravan transmission hell. You know the drill...you own a mini-van and the transmission goes. We've done this a number of times but other times I think we had a warranty. But this time, there's no warranty and 140K on the car. Do you ladle another couple thousand into it?

Dennis seems to think we still need a van for hauling things around and we still need the seats. I do like the idea that we have a vehicle that can take us, our adult children and our granddaughter all at one time. But do we really need that any more? In the last 25 years, there have been plenty of times where we filled that whole van up with whoever. Plus Naomi just started college across the mountains in Pullman.

Dennis feel that he made an excellent decision by squeezing everything into the Prius and not taking the now seriously ailing van over the Cascades.

But what now?

Enter Dennis' fantasy. We need a camper van so we can spend time in all the beautiful places around us. We've had this discussions many times. But I don't WANT to go camping. I didn't like it twenty years ago, etc etc. But now I'm switching sides. If we're going to do this, the time is now. Why not try it? He's been wanting this for a long time. But, as Ilana pointed out last night, Dad you want to put 15K into a hobby that you don't even have!

Plus Mark last night at Parent Group mentioned that he's selling a Westy conversion van. Right there, right now. Is it a sign?

I gave my 'Violence and Moveouts' program last night using the work done in 2001. Curtis is working up a step by step worksheet that I think is good. Next program I likely will do won't be until November or December, my ever unpopular gift-giving program. I usually horrify at least a few parents on that one, or as Freda says, make quite a few of use distinctly uneasy. Don't miss it!

Stole this picture, I think this is the fantasy pic. In your cool van at the beautiful lake in the mountains. Aaaaahhhhhh.....
