Photoessay #459 - Ginsburgh -- Palin

My mother voted for Barack Obama. I come from a long line of Jewish republicans. Not the norm but there they are on both sides of my family.

She said (referring to her father in law and father "Grandpa and Poppy would turn over in their graves if they knew" but my mother didn't like John McCain.

Today I went to lunch with my friend Linda as I do every month. She brought up the question "What would your grandfather think of Sarah Palin?" My paternal grandfather Harold J. Ginsburgh.

Whooooeeee! My first thought was that the nomination of Sarah Palin would kill him if he wasn't dead already. Smoke would be coming out of his ears and he would be wagging his finger "Now Allen, you must understand history!"

Of course, he would be initially opposed because of her gender. "All these WOMEN!" he would exclaim. But he would look deeper than that. He admired great leaders especially those who understood history and economics. He, himself, had deep understanding of strong historical forces. He would not abide by ignorant responses or weak thinking. You had to show substantial analytical skills and keen perception before you could gain his acceptance.

Sarah Palin's name-calling and misguided garbled pronouncements (not to mention grammar) would cause him great pain and frustration.
