Photoessay #317 - Tailgate

So how did the tailgate work out? The one I worked to help set up 300 miles to the south in Eugene? Great! It worked out fine, I knew it would. Here's a picture. Notice that indispensable main canopy. How did we ever function without it? Grant's over under the blue canopy turning out french toast and ham. Coaches, parents, alums, community members in attendance. Team members came by earlier, confident they would get some free breakfast. Dennis points out that the team always does better when we have a tailgate. They won on Sunday against a very tough Arizona team 3-2. Lots of tables and chairs, lots of food. We're taking over part of the sidewalk and the diagonal parking places on University Ave. outside of the Howe Field. The television truck is in the middle distance. Arizona's team bus is behind me. Pioneer Cemetery across the street.

Good turnout, good energy. I think my next goal would be to get more opposing fans to join us. If I work on one again.

Strikes me that if this was supported by the University Alumni Association, did we really have to import a BBQ all the way from Elmira on a horse trailer? Just asking.

Bottom pictures show's Pam Cook's cinnamon rolls and my 30 lbs of fruit. Looking up University Ave. The B&B we stay at sometimes when we feel flush is just past the light.
