Photoessay #318 - Neena hits

During our early tailgates in front of the softball field, team members will often stop by before the game to check out what's going on. They KNOW that they can get a free breakfast out of it. Here, Blair, Hanna, Lovena and Neena drop by to see what Grant's cooking up. You can tell we are still setting up. The menfolk are off to the right of the picture assembling the big canopy out of pipes and tarps. The cinnamon rolls are still covered by a towel. Some tables still uncovered. The iron fence in the back in front of the bushes is at the top of the bleachers along the third base line. Off to the left, Grant's already serving up french toast and ham. Lovena likes peanut butter on her french toast. Neena arrived out of sorts, didn't feel well, sick. However she's cheering up while having some breakfast.

Neena does start feeling better. The next picture shows the end of the swing when she blasted the ball over the center field fence off the University of Arizona pitcher to score 3 runs. Oregon wins 3-2 off this home run and a perfectly played 7th inning which featured Arizona loading the bases. The Ducks were ready and played flawless defense to preserve the victory. You know Arizona is going to hit the ball, they have an excellent hitting lineup. It's how you handle those hits that can make a difference.

Bottom picture shows Neena rounding the bases awaiting the congratulations of her teammates who have gathered at homeplate. The Arizona team waits in their positions, as they must, as the hitting team celebrate.
