Photoessay #202 - Grandma Anne

As I've marked the passing of my mother in law, Lanaya, these past weeks, I wanted to feature Grandma Anne. Anne is the my husband's birthmother and Lanaya was my husband's adoptive mother. Both mothers.

We've known Anne for over 21 years. She searched for him through an intermediary and we've become completely integrated into that family. My first Thanksgiving dinner is really a gathering for that family including Dennis' two brothers. These last few years, I've made some feeble attempts to combine the two events but just too many people for my living room, so for right now, we'll have two. That's ok, I don't mind.

But Grandma Anne is looking good in this picture, she always brings a vegetable dish and enjoys the family gatherings. She accompanied us for a few U Oregon softball trips. We also attend gatherings at the family's waterfront cabin on an island in Puget Sound. She's planning something for after xmas to mark the December birthdays in the family.

I've posted pictures of the cabin in the past. Now that we don't have SO many kid commitments, maybe we can spend more time there.

That's an interesting glimpse of a story about Grandma Anne. She has a lot of poise in this picture, dignity. Do you have two separate Thanksgiving dinners?
