"The mountain is out", a popular local phrase in the Puget Sound area, means that Mount Rainier is visible, not obscured by haze or clouds. Doesn't happen too often.
Dennis attended a birthday party for one of his aunts last Sunday at a waterfront restaurant in Tacoma and took this photograph. The mountain is out! Viewed from up near Point Defiance, a softly pink Mount Rainier looms over Tacoma across a glassy Commencement Bay in early autumn. A boat pulls a para-sailer on the left balancing out the mountain in an unbalanced juxtaposition.
Unidentified industrial activity across the bay. Some beautiful often overlooked scenic areas in the South Sound.

My sister lived in Tacoma 20 years ago. If she hadn't, I'd never know the wonder of Mt. Ranier. I didn't remember that it wasn't a common sight. I like that saying: the mountain is out.
