Information about Postcards to Voters

I mentioned the postcards-to-voters on the recent Temple Beth Am Civil Rights trip.

Several people on the trip asked me for information about writing postcards as a campaign activity.  I thought I would post the information on Facebook but some of the trip information is on the Temple Beth Am facebook page, some on the other and some people don’t read Facebook at all.

This is a variation of ‘Get out The Vote.’  But you don’t have to make phone calls to people who don’t want to talk to you or knock on doors.  You write postcards.

These are for progressive causes; I don’t know if conservatives have a similar campaign
.
You buy the postcards (there’s links on the site), you pay the postage (.37) and you write the postcards.  You don’t have the name but you have the address.  There are usually three sentences they want on the card but you can write what you want.  Generally, they are sent right before the election to motivate people to vote.

You can write to get started

Or go to this link for complete information.

Does it work?  Some candidates (not all of them) have won by close votes.  So maybe it makes a difference?

I know it’s not directly related to Temple Beth Am.  Let me know if you have some other ideas about getting the word out.

Thanks,
Sandy Barnes
