Alabama monolith
We drove from the outskirts of Atlanta to Montgomery, State Capital of Alabama. We didn't stop; it wasn't part of our trip. But I was stunned at the monolith character of the buildings. Especially the Finance Building (money); I figured I could get a picture online but I can't find it anywhere. Almost sleek, very tall, white, imposing, looked gigantic.
Looked around to the department website, they only have 350 employees. No picture of the building that I could find. But it was monumental.
Alabama is a poor small state with a small modest capital city. But huge imposing buildings.
And remember the "Southern way of life?" If you were a black person and saw all those fancy huge buildings, white even. Would you think that the government represented you?
