I went to buy a poster

That's what I thought I was buying off the desk of Special Collections.  Rolled up, etc.  But no, what I bought for my $20 was a fully mounted exhibit piece.  You know, that piece that looked like a display, that's what you take home.  Part of the Klondyke history of the Seattle Jewish community.  Much of the original money came from merchants who sold gold miners the kit (which was about two tons of supplies) that the Canadian Mounties declared that each minor must have.  More than a ton of stuff, two tons!  Firms like Cooper/Levy specialized in this; you can see the goods piled in front of the store.  Much of the wealth for the original Jewish families originated here.  That's what built the Old Sanctuary.
