Picnic Point

Today we were supposed to go letterboxing with Melina, actually it was suppposed to be yesterday. But then it didn't happen, maybe next weekend.  Sometimes we are tempted to give up.  But we don't.  Unfortunately, I do a fair amount of planning and arrangement regarding the scheduling, the food, the event, the time.  And then to have it fall apart, it is frustrating.

So Dennis and I took the picnic food we intended (baguette, fancy salami and cheese, grapes) and went on our own picnic.  I did put the chicken vegetable dinner in the crockpot so we would have something all ready should we all come home.

I decided on Picnic Point; a small park on the Sound.  We've probably been there but not for a long long time.  Really close by; only 12 miles away.  We used our new GPS, the navigation bitch, Dennis calls her (lots of others do also).  Worked really well.  Even though it was the middle of the day on a nice summer Sunday, it was not crowded; plenty of parking, easily got a picnic table.  When we got there, we were surprised to see a lot of fog.  When we first got on the beach, it was gray and socked in.  Then, all of a sudden, it cleared and you could see across the Sound, the islands, the boats.

A little hard to walk on the beach, uneven, seaweed.  We took Teddy, he showed his neurotic, worried behavior.  He's too big a dog to be so upset when people are not right next to him or to shriek when we stop the car.  Dogs were supposed to be on leash and people did respect that.  He really did want to go running in the water.  He knows he has had a good time if he comes home bleeding and limping.

Picture looking south towards Edmonds, Dennis in foreground; fog still burning off.
