Claire and Gayle 1982

Continuing with the beach theme plus I had the box open with the folder of pictures of my parents.

Going back 32 years to 1982; a picture of my mother Claire walking on the beach in Carlsbad, California with her long time Gayle Z.  I talked to Gayle not too long ago; she was a healthywoman in her 90s still running the church bazaar; living with her daughter Linda. 

Good for her; more power.

Claire and Gayle became friends around 1961 when they decided to start a girl scout troop when I was seven.  They both had 3 kids; both had husband who worked at Aerojet (everybody's dad did, didn't they).  They both lived in Arden Park, a middle class development in what was known as the "north area" of Sacramento.  Very white. 

Interesting that this "north area" is now on the southern part of the current map of the city.

The meeting were all at Gayle's house; she had more room.  I tolerated girl scouts; I didn't have the passion for it that my mother and my younger daughters have. They've remained friends though they've moved all over.  That's what you did, when your husband got transferred, you moved.  Gayle has lived for a long time in the Carlsbad area north of San Diego.  I have a friend who just bought a second home there and another friend who just moved there.  Nice area; I don't see us going there.

My  mother must have gone for a visit (she ws 58; Gayle a few years older).  They did my mother's favorite thing, walk along the beach,.
