Ilana - moving picture and EVIDENCE

I've gotten some pushback about featuring some favorite pictures that I already featured on the blog (like 5 years ago) on Ilana week.

If I get going I might want to hold onto this theme for awhile.

I found another picture that I don't think I've shown before.  Again 1987.  We bought and sold at the bottom of the market.  We sold our rundown rambler and grossed 3K.  I was thrilled actually that we came out positive.  That  house had 3 bedrooms and 1 bath; 1250 square feet and, since I had three small children at the time, I would have killed (we're talking murder) for another bedroom and bathroom.  We bought the house we have now; a conventional split entry with (now) 5 bedrooms and 3 baths.

The first picture illustrated my life that summer.  I had to move with three pre-schoolers.  I started a pile of good will stuff on my front lawn.  My neighbor added to it.  Pretty soon it was getting scattered all over the place.  But the kids loved the boxes.

We had a party soon after we moved in to celebrate Ilana's first birthday.  I'm including two pictures from around that time.

What strikes you about those pictures?  Yes, it's SO obvious; we used to have a lawn.  An actual lawn of nice looking grass in our backyard.  Now, we have packed dirt and tree roots.  No lawn.  The culprit, an overly ambitious maple tree which set up dry shade and takes up the whole backyard.  Now I like my maple tree, keeps my house cool in the summer.  I mean, we can't even grow moss or dandelions back there.  We used to be the dandelion center of the northwest.  I'll say this for it; it's easy maintenance.
