Word got out!
When everybody got together for the wedding last weekend, a big request was to go to Fu Man Dumpling House. A tiny place. EVERYBODY wants to go there for their birthday. I called up, owner knows who I am. 12 people too many, he tells me. Usually you come in with seven or eight. He knows me all right.
And we did have 12 people, once we counted up everybody and the usual hanger oners. Let's do takeout. So the owner and I decide how much we should get. A lot. Added up to a chunk of change. My cousin is buying. We get home with two big boxes of takeout containers. Cars are pouring out of our driveway. You think they put it on the internet? my cousin asks.
We came in and everybody just dove into it. If you're going to buy a bunch of takeout, it might as well be exciting. Susanna is serving up soup. The Seattle Pops folks are chowing down. Weather was great (hasn't been since) so people could sit outside on the upper deck and lower deck. Very little left.
I really hadn't planned it but I had a bunch of paper cups, bowls and plates and kept serving with those, "When all these paper plates are gone, everybody has to go home." I announced. Actually I brought out more paper plates....
