Photoessay #2816 - Some happier times

Some happier times for the Var family.

A thing that pictures can do ... take us back to better times.  Maybe earlier we cannot appreciate it.

The memorial service this morning drained all of us.  So many tears. From me. Who wants to go to a memorial for a 16 year old old girl?  I wasn't prepared for most of the service being conducted in Cambodian, but what else should happen?  There was a clergy and two monks and they and others chanted the Buddhist ceremonies.  Some of Nora's classmates spoke personally and eloquently.  The tennis team attended in their jackets.  The slide show, just breaks your heart; they used the pictures taken by Anne and printed and delivered by me.

Sam looked strong and I know he's so unwell, but he did what he needed to.  Savi, overcome, who wouldn't be?  Afterward we sobbed in each other's arms.  Who could do anything else?

Here Sam looks healthy, Savi is happy.with darker hair.  Narronikka maybe 11 or 12 in this picture.

A long hard road ahead.  My neighbor and I agreed that money would help in this difficult situation.  I contributed some more.  They will too.
