Usually group pictures in restaurants don't come out well but this one is really not bad at all. Most of the 'group' from last weekend's informal Crown College 40th reunion. Looks like a bunch of 60-somethings to me (sigh). It is, who knew?
My college roomie who I have stayed in touch with all this time, is to the right of me with her head cut in half. My college boyfriend is sitting across from me with the pink lei.
JJ and I were both struck with the sweetness of spirit in this group. Most all of us have not been in touch. But we liked each other then and still do now. Nobody was trying to look grand or important.
Just a group who were bright students in the California sun many years ago at a certain time and place with a unique community and experience. Who've survived this long. Long enough to appreciate it and marvel that we somehow made it through. And, as JJ points out, majority Jewish.
I try to explain it up here and nobody can know what I mean. You just had to be there, I guess.
Congratulations to my niece Krystal and nephew in law Matt on the birth of the daughter Hannah!
And grant us peace in my neighborhood to a tragedy only passed on my neighbor. I want to deny it, I want to call it a rumor. Though I knew he would not have told me if he wasn't pretty darn sure about it.
