Somehow the unscheduled stop at Lake Crescent stands out to me as the surprise nugget of the summer.
I still have things to write about Danny's wedding. People continue to come and go as they have throughout the summer. Susanna's in town; she and Megan and Megan's dad Dave came over to dinner last night.
My class, has had it's positive moments though it's not been fabulous. It did cause me to read a book I had on my shelf already. "Time Bind" by Arlie Hochschild. I took a class taught by her, an early women's studies class at UCSC in 1971; almost before the beginning. It fits in with my narrative about my job loss.
Which I won't post here. What will I do with it?
I've gotten in touch with Rabbi Franken, another third cousin. I've found another genealogical direction to explore; my maternal grandfather's cousins in the Germany, in Baden, in the Black Forest right near the French border.
I will host my Inner Circle/Poker Game group tomorrow morning. Guess I better go back to the store and put the tablecloth in the dryer. One member of the group was a caretaker for her partner who died at xmas time. But before she died, we met at her house because April didn't want to leave Yvonne alone. Yvonne told a social worker, "I don't know what's going on but April has these women who come over and all they do is play poker!"
We don't really play poker.
So it's been a summer even if we don't go on another trip.
But another nice shot of Lake Crescent. The back of my cousin's head and her husband in the foreground.
