Photoessay #2931 - Burn Baby Burn

Last night, on a lovely summer evening, I participated in a ritual burning organized by Tessa hosted by Karen and Fred.  Part of parent group.  We burned papers and other items from parts of our lives, specifically involved with our acting out (mostly now adult) children that we wanted out of our lives.

Tess burned thick folders of court documents in regards to child custody court experiences initiated by her ex-husband.  Linda burned all of the careful research that she had gathered about marijuana use trying to influence her son not to smoke it.  Cindy burned preliminary At Risk Youth papers she never filed.  I burned papers related to my son's acting out thirteen years ago.  Mary still has the red t-shirt in her lap that she will toss in the fire moments later.

Fred has a big bucket of water behind him just in case this burning mass of paper takes flight.  Isn't it a cool backyard fire pit?  Last time we did this, two years ago.  But a lovely Seattle evening, we don't even have sweaters on.  These long summer evenings here in the north; they're great.

Many thank for Karen ad Fred for hosting.

Darn, I missed this! I could have my own bonfire with the stacks of school and court papers! Hope to make it next time!
