Megan's visiting in Birmingham this weekend. Getting to the airport is always a pain. Either you have to convince somebody to drive you (45 minutes - 1 hr drive one way) or you drive your car and pay a ton of parking or you take a cab or shuttle (also expensive). During my many trips to Rockford, I used to take my neighbor's cab and Dennis would pick me up.
Megan tried to convince Naomi to take her to the airport before work; she wasn't going for it.
How about public transportation? There's this new light rail. Maybe you could take a bus from LFP Town Center? Bus connections to our neighborhood are pretty lousy. But I'm taking the 372 bus to UW that morning. The 522 goes downtown, wooosh. Lee and I took it when we were dress shopping.
So we check it out; it looks doable. The 522 doesn't go in the bus tunnel. But you're a block to the Westlake Station and the train leaves every 15 minutes to the airport. It could happen.
So I went a little early down to the bus stop. Megan tried it. She reported that it was really easy. Doesn't work so well when you come back on a plane that arrives at 10pm. But, in the middle of the day, it's a snap.
Megan and I waiting at the bus stop Tuesday morning. Look at that bright light!
