Photoessay #2492 - Napoleon plate

Naomi and I saw this plate a few weeks at a garage sale.  Actually it was an antique dealer selling off stock.  We knew it would be a great gift for Ilana.

My parents as part of their 1964 French Provincial living room decorating scheme in suburban California included a lamp made out of a gilded Napoleon figure.  How authentic or how politically correct this was, I don't know.

So when we were dividing things up, Ilana really wanted the Napoleon lamp.  Which got a special chunk of very valuable real estate in the Buick when she drove it to Michigan some years ago.

So we saw this plate with Napoleon on it and we thought it belonged with the lamp.

As I might have anticipated, we almost forgot to give it to her.

Hope she's having a good time at her immersion workshop at Seattle U
