Photoessay #2882 - Two SIFF movies

SIFF (Seattle International Film Festival) is upon us and Dennis and I made a strong start today seeing two movies in one day.  Last year we procrastinated and had to leave some of our 12 tickets on the table.

This morning we went to Ernest and Celestine with Melina.  I remember reading the books to my kids?  Weren't there quite a few?  Subtitled in French.  Melina wanted to go to another movie in a different language.  This movies was delightful and entertaining.

This evening, we returned to the SIFF Uptown (same theater) and saw Going Forth by Morning.  Egyptian, made by an emerging women director (auteur, they say) with our friends Mary Ann and Pat.  Very unusual film about a mother and daughter caring for their stroke damaged husband and father.  Very slow moving and realistic in that way.  Almost in real time.  Because all of these things you have to do, they do take a lot of time, caregiving, laundry, etc and they're just about never shown.  Lots of long takes; the mother and daughter  both complex characters.  Passed the Bechtel test FOR SURE.

Yes, a good SIFF day.
