Photoessay #1904 - Register Articles

And an entire ream of paper and related trees hit the dust.

Like I mentioned, whenever happened in New Haven, a reporter had to go ask Mr. Zunder what he thought about it. I'd heard of the New Haven Register but the articles in the scrapbooks were from the New Haven Union, New Haven Journal & Courier and New Haven Union. Not the Register.

But there's no Connecticut papers in the 'Chronicling America' website maintained by the Library of Congress. The only Connecticut paper in the 'Geneaalogy Bank' website through the Seattle Public Library is the Register.

So I look for articles for Zunder and I get over 1000 hits. No lie. I printed out most of them and put them in my new binder with extra special fancy tabs. Really, these articles only start around 1878 so the 1877-8 devotional exercise drama is only half covered. This man really liked to be on committees on boards, I'm still finding new ones. But reading these articles, I can see that the Register was not always a pro-Zunder paper. There were vague statements about how Mr. Zunder had signficant amounts of opposition, or that Mr. Zunder was supporting a superintendent or principal that the Register though should go or that Mr. Zunder was not familiar with the schools and other jibes.

Got quite a bit of moire pattern and interference in this shot. Those lines of text on the left are straight lines of dashes and the pattern on the desk chair is pretty weird. And the upper left text definitely has soemthing optical going on.

Melina didn't come over so a lot of our xmas eve activities were affected, too bad!
