Here's the man. My great great grandfather Maier Zunder. Born in Bavaria 1824. Died in New Haven 1901. Leading citizen, big time. He built a successful wholesale grocery business, was president of a bank, served on New Haven Board of Education for 24 year, many of those as president, was treasurer of Congregation Mishkan Israel for 25 years. He also was trustee of many other organizations, parented 4 sets of kids, also was active in German-Ameircan Associations.
Had a school named after him. None of his descendants matched his achievement.
Makes me tired just writing all of this. Not much written about him at all.
I'm working on it! Don't know when this picture was taken. He doesn't look too old to me.
Made a run to UW libraries in Seattle AND Bothell.
