Photoessay #1505 - Who ARE these people?
I found this page of old photos in the middle of one of my mom's photo albums...from the 1980s. But who are they? Oh, oh, I don't know. Don't know the time period or the location.
The only thing I can think of was that one of my forebears brought over a family from Germany, a large family and set them up with a farm. Could this be them? It looks like they live in a town, there's sidewalks but looks like open land behind the house and down the street. There's a lot of kids. Maybe around 1900?
But I don't know who they are or where the pictures were taken.
Today's the first day of school in the Seattle School district and Naomi is shadowing a K1 teacher. Actually a long term sub. For two weeks. Good thing she's in 'shape' after working 10 hour days all summer at day camp.
First day of school for Melina as well. She called me yesterday afternoon wanting to come over because she had to put some summer pictures on a 'usb drive' as a fifth grade school assignment. She thought we had some pictures she could use. Dennis had fixed up an old laptop and printer we had and we had given it to her and her mother some months ago. I taught her how to 'steal' pictures from my blog which featured quite a few summer shots with her (Mt. Rainier, at museums, at Harstine Island, at Gilbert & Sullivan, etc). We went over it and she got the hang of it, gathering the pictures in a folder on the desktop. She said her grandpa would take her to get a usb drive when he got home from work. A little later, she called singing out "I've got the USB drive!". Over the phone, we went over how to copy the folder onto the drive. She was so excited to complete the assignment! Nobody in that household is computer savvy. She would never have been able to complete the assignment without our support.....
