Photoessay #1252 - Dogs of middle age

My friends the Asays, announced that they have gotten a new dog. A 4 month old Pomeranian they named Genehis from a breeder. He's a teacup, final weight expected to be 9 pounds. Good for them because several family members have back issues so, in their adolescent phases, when you want them to go out and they look at you with their "You and whose army?"look, you can easily deposit them outside. So best wishes for Genghis in his new home. He will be loved and pampered, but he will have those two large cats to contend with.

Teddy, in a picture of uncertain focus, is two years old and sixty pounds. But he does what his mom (Me) tells him. Mostly. Almost always. You can admire him with our healthy verdant lawn in the background. What? You think it looks like mud? There are many interpretations. Hey, they Asay's Virginia lawn doesn't look much better but at least they have some weeds.

These poor dogs brought into homes with owners in their late 50s. There still could be kids who come by to play. Teddy loves to roughouse with those little boys, you know, when they all go roll in the mud and chew on each other's ears. They love that.

Teddy lives with two cats. And it's clear that he's not the boss of them. George won't have anything to do with him despite Teddy's entreaties to play. "You know how it is", he encourages George, "First I knock you over, then you knock me over." George's not having anything to do with it.

Starbaby, she's just weird. But she likes to have a dog to mess with. She's trained him. She's a bit into the S&M. "It's personal", comments Ilana.
