Photoessay #1214 - Tumor Humor

Back in the day, when I was running the BRAINTMR list, we encouraged humor, laughing at ourselves, the absurdity of it all. Tumor Humor we called it.

My classmate Deirdre has a great set of pictures on the Caring Bridge website, telling her story as she's gone through the challenge of breast cancer. You learn a lot just looking at the images. She's looking good now btw and her hair is growing back in curly!

The tagline for this image?

Her turquoise vest is a lead shield, her hat a wild style. I stayed with subtle tones and patterns....

Hee hee, love it. Characterizing that ugly awful stuff you have to wear when going through some awful procedure for some awful disease which will make you feel tremendously awful later...as staying 'with subtle tones and patterns'.

Couple that with the winning smile looking like she's having the best time in her life plus won the lottery.

Justaposition? Irony? Deadpan? I dunno but it's genuinely funny.
