Photoessay #1155 - Teddy gets a xmas card

Today Teddy got a xmas card. We made our daily visit to our local dog park. Yes it was chilly and raining but it's ALWAYS chilly and raining. Teddy found a boy (12 years old?) to throw the ball for him and they were having a gay old time. Some regulars around, Drake, Stevey, Molly. Teddy constantly struggled to keep his slimy muddy broken tennis ball from a very large Great Dane mix puppy determined to steal it. As we left, Molly's owner called out to me and asked if Teddy could have a holiday treat and handed me this gift. A fancy xmas card from Molly (pictured)! A weimeraner about his same age.

Rain damage noted.

On reflection, I really prefer our small Mountlake Terrace dog park to Marymoor (huge off leash area in Redmond). Marymoor is HUGE 40 acres partially fenced (no big deal to me), serves tons of people. I've visited twice in the last week when picking up Melina. Our local park is fenced and maybe slightly more than 1 acre. But we have a much better sense of community. When you come to our park, you're likely to participate with everybody, all the dogs, probably the people. You throw a ball and any number of dogs might go chase it. At Marymoor, I had a sense that if somebody threw a ball, it was for THEIR dog not YOUR dog. Much more community and interaction. In a small area (which is plenty big enough), you meet all the dogs and have a sense of who's there. Plus everybody at the Montlake Terrace dog park is a mark for Teddy's persistent throw-the-ball behavior. Most look at him and say "Oh no, I know your tricks Teddy, nope I'm not throwing that ball" He keeps it up, the nudging the ball at their feet, looking up with his best googly eyes. Repeat until they give in.

So a very cute little gift from Molly to Teddy. I'll give him the biscuit later.
