Photoessay #1093 - Letterboxing picnic

Melina and I had long been planning to attend the letterbox gathering at Hamlin Park. And Dennis and Teddy decided to join us. The organizers had worked so hard. They had EVERYTHING all set up. Plenty of HIPS (Hidden in Plain Sight) boxes; they had checked the existing boxes (including mine) to make sure they had logbooks (they added an extra one to my box), planted new boxes, set up tons of food and decorations. Quite the place.

Just like the one I attended two summers ago, in Everett, the food went generally untouched as all of the attendees concentrated on stamping their hearts out. I counted that I added 39 stamps to my notebook today and we didn't even come close to getting everything. After a few rounds with people, Melina wanted to go out to search for a box. So we searched for 3 boxes, found two. And came back to stamp and stamp.

Threatened rain but didn't really so as far as Seattlites think, the weather's great. This picture taken just as we arrived, there's even a bit of sunshine. Those people in the background are not eating, they're stamping....
