Back in the day, Ilana (influenced by the movie "Finding Forester") became interested in typewriters. Something SO satisfying with banging out your writing on a typewriter. The rhythmic sound, the keyboard where you actually are making an image on that paper. Clack, clack, clack.
And she started collecting typewriters. Everybody has them under a bed. Often they're in thrift stores. People will GIVE them to you. So Ilana started a collection. Some of them worked kind of. She didn't have the money or the interest to track down ribbons or to get them repaired (as of a few years ago, there were still a few shops that serviced typewriters)
But the girl is going to Ann Arbor and what's the point of having all of these mostly non-working typewriters? You have to unload this stuff some time. So Ilana put the information on Craigs List and established Ilana's Typewriter Stand on our driveway.
Response not overwhelming. It's not the price. Free for ones that don't work, $5 for the working ones. The other day, somebody did come by with two little girls and purchased two of the 'working' manuals. Ilana not home. Dennis said he should get a commission.

azure I can relate to the typewriters as we are about to sell it all and we have a typewriter that will end up in the "free" basket...
