Photoessay #1023 - High over Tokyo

I'm writing this from home. We're in the middle of 'the longest day', you know, when you fly from Asia and you get home way before you left. This morning, we had an interesting walk around the Ueno district which has tons to offer. We walked over to check out the Tokyo National Museum but closed on Monday. I saw on the map that there was a Tokyo Metropolitan Garden, let's go there. We did and found ourselves in an extremely interesting house belonging to the Mitsubishi. As usual in Tokyo, nothing seems to be in the location it should.

Then we took the special Starliner Train from Ueno to Narita Airport. Almost twice the cost but quicker and reserved seats. Walked up the escalators and attracted the attention of a pair of Tokyo Police Policeman mainly because we were completely clueless, had to show passports, answer some questions, etc. Eventually, we stumbled into the right place, 8 hour flight at 4:30 pm, maybe a little sleep, go through all of that US Customs and immigration. And guess what? It's 9:00am in the morning of the day you just left. The trick, I'm told is to NOT go to bed until evening. That's the plan.

But here's a picture from last night ( or whenever that was ). Our last stop was downtown Tokyo, with the distinctive station (but it was going under renovations so was all screened off) and up the elevator to get a view of Tokyo.

The first shot, taken just at dusk, looks some of the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo as well as part of the skyline of large building (many many many in Tokyo). Then we asked somebody to take our picture. Left to right, Haley (Natusko's Australian Friend who often takes around vistiors), Natsuko, myself and Dennis.
