Photoessay 965 - Claire and Allen 1981

Hard to believe that this is nearly 30 years ago.

I took this nice picture of mom and dad out of a photo album about their trip to England in 1981. From the placement in the album (right at the beginning) I assumed that it was taken to mark the beginning of the trip. But now I wonder, why are they dressed up so nicely. And with the corsage and flowers on my father's lapel. Seems unlikely they would be this dressed up just for the start of a trip. Picture taken in the backyard of the house in Rockford.

Certainly a sense of anticipation here, they look like they could be at the beginning of something!

Second photo of (of course) Stonehenge taken by my father during that trip. He always liked that shot (how can you take a poor photo of Stonehenge?) and had it enlarged and framed and was on display at their former Rockford home. I believe it's currently in the basement. My sister always was fond of it and would like to have it.

I love reading about ancienct sites like Stonehedge!
